Deed for sale of land in Petersburgh, Rensselaer, New York by Thomas Baley to Stephen van Rensselaer, 4 Apr 1793.
Deed for sale of land in Petersburgh, Rensselaer, New York by Thomas Baley to Stephen van Rensselaer, 4 Apr 1793.
This Thomas Baley is probably Thomas 5th and not Thomas 4th based on their signatures on the 1773 leases and this deed. If so, then Thomas 4th had probably died, as Thomas the 5th was no longer calling himself Thomas Junior.

It appears that no Thomas Baley remained in Petersburgh after this sale of land as no Thomas appeared in the 1799 tax roles or the 1800 and later U.S. censuses of Petersburgh.

Note: This deed appears as a Rensselaerwyck lease not a deed on the New York State Library website.

Genealogy of Simeon Phelps.
Genealogy of Simeon Phelps.
Clipping from the St. Johnsville Enterprise, Jan. 9, 1947. (Brought to my attention by Cathy Kuhl and obtained from fultonhistory.com). I have used it as a source of the names of Simeon's children and Plynn's birthplace. However, it contains significant errors. Specifically, the names given for Aurilla's and Ardalissa's (Artalusia's) husbands are actually the names of their sons.
