    • No birth record for Nathan 2nd has yet been found, but the 1850 US Census says he was born in New York. G. C. Tanner's book gives his birthplace as Hopkinton, Rhode Island, but Nathan 2nd's father stated in his Revolutionary War pension application that he moved to New York where he was in the revolution (1777 - 1779) and afterwards lived there in various places including Stephentown, New York. In 1779 Nathan 2nd's father leased a farm in the East Manor of Rensselaerwyck which included Stephentown and Petersburgh (after it was formed from part of Stephentown). Given his father's movements and the farm lease, Nathan 2nd was probably born in what is now Petersburgh, New York. His son John was born there.
