The memorial was a stone box. The inscriptions were on the top (which was cracked) and were badly eroded and sometimes illegible. In addition to Samuel and Silence, the monument also memorialized their son Solomon, who died as a boy, and also their son Elial and his wife Mary and several of their sons.

In addition to the names of Hiram and Margaret Vandecar Morse, the names of several members of the Noxon family are inscribed on the monument: Margaret L. Noxon, b. 4 Sep 1871; S. Mitchell Noxon, b. 12 Oct 1839, d. 29 Mar 1885; Libbie wife of S. Mitchell, b. 16 Jul 1837, d. 4 Feb 1876; Alfred B. Noxon, b. 16 Jun 1873; Lewis M. Noxon, b. 6 Nov 1875, d. 29 May 1907; Margaret L. Noxon, b. 4 Sep 1871. There were headstones for all but Alfred B. and Margaret L., and it is likely that they are memorialized but not buried here.

Peter was buried with Hannah on his right, Lettice on his left and the children on her left in order: Sarah, an unreadable stone, Peter Morse Orsborne, a small unreadable stone.

Peter's inscription read:

& 17 days
